Why clean your roof?

As moss retains water not only does it add weight to your roof, it can also cause tiles to crack whilst lifting them out of position as it grows in the vertical bond area. This is often the cause of tiles breaking away from the roof.

As roofs age, the original protective layer on the face of the tile is gradually eroded by the elements and increases the porosity of the tiles. Allowing moisture to penetrate easily into the roof tiles.

Moss, algae, mould and other bacteria growing on the roof surface can cause your roof life to shorten and can cost you thousands in repairs.

Falling moss The build up of moss on a roof does not only look unsightly, it constantly falls from the roof and can lead to block gutters & downpipes causing water to overflow potentially into the property causing damage. It also requires constant cleaning up from around your property.

​How we clean your roof

We clean using a state of the art pressure washing machine & equipment, set to a low pressure to gently remove the moss and giving you an instant result. This method of cleaning is subject to a roof survey.

A manual scrape with our professional scrapers is available for the more fragile roofs. We have different scrapers for different shaped roof tiles that attach to our telescopic poles.

Using the safety of a mobile access tower we drag the moss down towards the gutter line and then bag it all up and remove. We make sure all downpipes are close/disconnected so the moss and debris cannot block them up.

Biocide Treatment for roofs

We apply a biocide on the moss free roof and it immediately goes to work, killing all the spores, lichen and any other organic growth. We allow the biocide treatment to soak into the roof as it will continue to work for many months. Keeping your roof clean for years to come.

The process​

• Roof survey before any works carried out
• We remove moss using our ultra low pressure washing machine, or by using our professional tile scrapers
• Remove all residue from tiles and gutters
• A gentle brush application of biocide covering all tiles to ensure algae, moss & lichens are dealt with.

​What to expect

Once your roof is scraped and biocide applied, the natural colour of your tiles will start to show over a period of 6–12 months.

If we pressure wash your roof you will have an instant result. Biocide is still applied using this method.

Your gutters will be cleared out and surrounded area restored back to pre work condition. ​Leaving you moss free.
